Visual Puns
Bug Spray |
Crocodile Tears |
Graphic Design: Visual Puns
Utilizing Photoshop, I was assigned to create visual puns by cutting objects out of one image and inserting them into another. The goal was to create visually pleasing, natural looking, and humorous pieces. To create Bug Spray, I cut out and inserted different insects considered pests onto an image of aerosol spray. Then, I created Crocodile Tears, defined as insincere tears. I cut out crocodile heads and inserted them onto the image, taking the place of a man's over exaggerated tears.

Pop Tab Installation
Art: Pop Tab Installation
I was assigned to make an installation in our new art annex, using any materials necessary and any unclaimed space. I chose to utilize this interesting window looking into one of the offices. I strung pop tabs through blue and purple ribbon to create these visually interesting, light catching, lines on the window, as not completely obstructing the office inhabitant's view was important. I hung them in measured increments to result in the pattern seen above that tapered off as it nears the top of the window.

Above are some of the magazine-style cover layouts I designed on Illustrator as photo editor of New Prairie High School's newspaper, The Cougar Chronicle.
