ALLDENT Toothpaste Ad

Graphic Design: Mock ALLDENT Toothpaste Ad
This piece, created for a Butler copywriting class, is aimed to sell ALLDENT toothpaste to men aged 45-60. This group is professional, with spare spending money, and cares about their appearance. Though my ad doesn't show the physical product, it showcases one of the main benefits for the particular age group: a confident smile. The chosen image portrays an average man, slightly younger than the target age group, suggesting that a confident smile has an age-lessening effect. This benefit is reinforced by the copy, provided by a white smile. In all, the elements of the ad work together to sell ALLDENT toothpaste to the target audience.

*Through this assigned mock campaign, I was expected to combine original copy and visual elements to create an effective design that achieves the client's goals.

Destination Magazine Spread

Graphic Design: Destination Magazine Spread
This piece, created for a Butler design class, is aimed to sell a destination. I chose Mykonos, a stunning Greek Isle, as I've visited there personally. I photographed the background image, portraying the sun setting on Little Venice, myself. I reinforce the Mediterranean feel through the font treatment on "Mykonos," a modern reflection of traditional Greek/Roman era lettering. The watermark it's set upon, provides perspective by using a dot to highlight Mykonos' location within Greece. The copy gives the alluring image context by detailing what makes this island unique. Finally "Travel Mykonos" is slightly larger so the audience is guaranteed to read the call to action, if nothing else. All in all, creating desire to know more about, and ideally travel to Mykonos.

Art Now Poster Spring 2013

Graphic Design: Art Now Poster Spring 2013
I was tasked with creating the Art Now poster for the spring of 2013. The copy was provided by Butler's art department, but visually and conceptually, it was up to me. I wanted to incorporate a an image portraying the high-energy creative personalities of Butler's art students. The color scheme was season inspired, with the purples of fresh blooms and blues of the spring sky and cleansing rainfall. Mainly, I hoped to create curiosity among students, strong enough curiosity to make them stop by the show!

Surreal Selfie

Graphic Design: Surreal Selfie
This graphic self-portrait is inspired by Dadaism. Dadaists believed in giving up control in their artwork. For this reason I began by asking Facebook friends, ranging in the amount of time I've known them from my whole life to under a year, to describe me in one word. The results helped form the poster on the right. I used them to surround my first name, "Amber," in all caps and middle name, "Lynn," in lower case.

Next, I took the words and transformed them into images, either that I took for the project or have taken in the past and arranged them sporadically on the page. This sporadic placement of random objects in layers is reminiscent of Dada's style of graphic design.

Finally, I utilized the color scheme and borders to tie in my country roots, as roots are what make you who you are, resulting in each adjective. They also act as a unifying force, tying the two pieces together.

Baby Shower Invite

Graphic Design: Baby Shower Invite
I designed this invitation for a co-worker. Utilizing Illustrator, I drew the baby then inserted it into InDesign to create the rest of the invitation.
